Being on the top of your life's purpose and still passionately helping others search for their purpose is how you would describe what Demeris Johnson does. At BWAP LXX last night (9/29/16) Demeris came to City Reach Buffalo and inspired a group of inner-city young people.
     When folks find themselves standing on the pinnacle of their life's purpose, the world can be a beautiful place. Most people settle in and enjoy a life of prosperity. They forget the struggles of the guys still searching. Demeris is a Return Specialist - he specializes in returning to those in need of guidance.
     "A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men." Those are the words that Demeris quoted from Proverbs 18:16. Last night at BWAP LXX, Demeris gift brought him in front of some great young men and women from the inner-city of Buffalo, NY. Rev. Will Coplin always introduces our young people as "greatness before it happens."
     Possible - "Mission Possible," that's the message that Demeris wants all people to know. Your life mission is possible with God. He said his life turned around and he began truly reaching his destiny after he turned his life over to God. Demeris freely gave the young people copies of his book. He freely gave what's been given to him.

     Being a Prison Chaplain for almost 20 years has given Tom Burger a unique perspective through which to view human nature. Tom and his wife Sharon came over 600 miles to talk to inner-city young men and women in Buffalo, N.Y. for nine minutes. We call it a 9MD or Nine Minute Devotion (or Life Direction.)
     When the young men put down the basketball at halftime and came into the BWAP Dining Room, Tom shook every hand and began the relationship building process. That's the true mark of a Pastor, Chaplain, Mentor and a Father.
     An Ocean away in Africa and India is now where Tom has accepted a new set of Pastoral duties. He's the Director of a Global Missions Organization called With Open Eyes. Tom is an Author of two books about grace and that's the message he takes around the world and that's the message he brought to Buffalo.
     Paul's Letter to Philemon regarding "his son" Onesimus is an excellent example of grace. Tom is an excellent Bible Teacher who told the story in a way that young people could understand. Onesimus was not Paul's biological son but rather his adopted son spiritually. That message reflects Tom's life; he became like a father to guys in prison. He's now like a father to Pastors and people on several continents and his fatherhood is growing! Tom still has a letter from an inmate who had put Tom on his hit-list. Tom struggled through to grace and embraced the inmate in a bold act of love. Most un-graced guys would have made sure the inmate suffered in retaliation. Tom's story was a real life application of a Bible truth.  
     If Tom would have had longer than nine minutes, his testimony would have included the guiding heart of his wife Sharon. He is who he is because of God and his wife. Thanks Tom and Sharon Burger for being an inspiration to young people in Buffalo. Jesus loves you and so do we.
     Every week something extraordinary happens at BWAP. Tom gave out many copies of his books (you can buy them at the links below.) One young man told a story about his life as Tom gave him his books. He lost a basketball scholarship because of gang involvement and spent five years in jail. He now wants to mentor young guys and help them avoid life's destructive roads. Our goal at BWAP is to help young men become mentors and role models for the young boys and teenagers.      Batman came to play basketball at BWAP LXVIII on Thursday night Sept. 15, 2016. BWAP is a program for 18-30 yr. old young men, but something strange is happening.
     When we designed the program, the goal was to help older guys become solid role models who would help mentor younger guys. All of a sudden that's exactly what's happening, but we didn't plan it this way.
     Al Robinson is a Pastor from Spirit of Truth Ministries in Buffalo. He brings his guys 12-18 yrs. old to visit BWAP twice a month. Pastor Al noticed how the older guys have taken the younger guys under their wing and embraced them.
     Powerful mentoring is creating a Mentor Force at BWAP by God's design, not our own. For a program designed fro 18-30 yr. old young men, BWAP has an interesting age range. Mom's from the neighborhood have started to bring their sons who are around 12 yrs. old. Some of the older players have babies accompanied by their Mom's. So whose at BWAP? Dads, Moms, Grandparents, babies, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers and friends have become an integral part of BWAP, and we thank God!
     Pastor Al gave a great Nine Minute Devotion about how "bad company corrupts good character"(1 Corinthians 15:33.) That's good wisdom for people of any age. Thanks Pastor Al, we appreciate you. Jesus loves you and so do we.

How can you get involved in this unique ministry?

     Beautiful feet can be found all over a basketball court. At BWAP LXVI (66,) Ken Metzger told the young people about the true purpose of beautiful feet.
     When you walk in the peace and joy of knowing Christ, you should share that joy with others - not keep it to yourself. Beautiful feet deliver the beautiful words of Truth.
     All over the world is where the message of loving your neighbor is supposed to be taken. Start with those closest to you; brothers and sisters, friends and relatives, employers and strangers.
     Preaching encouragement, endurance, hope, character, perseverance in the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what Ken Metzger did at BWAP last night. ((9-1-16) Thanks Ken for once again bringing a solid teaching that inspired and gave encouragement to our young people. Jesus loves you and so do we.
Romans 10:15 "And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

     We'd also like to say thank you to Pastor Al Robinson and Spirit of Truth Ministries for providing the BWAP meal of the night. It's important to us to share spiritual food as well as solid food with the young folks we mentor. Pastor Al spoke to BWAP Director Rev. Will Coplin with a timely observation; "I like the way the older guys are mentoring the younger guys! That's a great testimony to what God is doing through collaboration on this side of heaven!
