DO YOUNG MEN PRAY?

Buffalo has young men who are finding out how much God cares for them.
When a young person shows a hunger for the deep things of God - feed them!
All things work together for good when young people show a desire to learn about God.
Pray that the hunger for God in the hearts of young people increases.

Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody.

Bring your appetite for some turkey (or work up an appetite playing basketball!)
When the BWAP Ladies get together to cook some turkey, folks end up with smiling stomachs.
Any day of the year is a good day for giving thanks to God for all the good things at BWAP.
Plenty of BWAP wisdom will be passed around by former Asst. YWAP Director Otu Obot II.

Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody.

PROSTITUTION, DRUGS, VIOLENCE & BWAP

BWAP is a ministry program that goes where most folks won't go. Some folks call it the hood. ask a kid in school what the hood is and the responses are always the same. "The ghetto, Where they sell drugs, Poverty, Violence, Prostitution, Inner city. We calls the hood a garden, it's a place to plant the love of God.
West Virginia has a city a lot like Buffalo, NY. It's not as big in terms of population, but Huntington is a great city that has its share of seedy characters in a few neighborhoods who prey upon addicted folks. There is a group of people who belong to ReClaim Church who are battling evil from their knees and with there serving hearts.
A recent prayer walk in the Marcum Terrace area gave the YWAP Directors and folks from ReClaim some great opportunities to talk about Jesus. One young mother said she sees about 10 overdoses per day. We watched people park at a community center awaiting their turn to buy drugs or engage in prostitution.
Prayer is more powerful than prostitution, drugs or guns. Prayer changes people. Prayer changes neighborhoods. Prayer will help ReClaim Huntington as a City of Honor. Please pray for ReClaim Church, BWAP and all the folks in Huntington as we come together in prayer and seek God's direction on His reclamation project.

Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody.

JENNIFER NAHREBESKI TOUCHES THE HEARTS OF YOUNG MEN AT BWAP LIX

7/9/2016

Because of what Jennifer Nahrebeski did last Thursday night at BWAP LIX, young men's lives will be forever changed. They put down the basketball and listened to her teaching, but it was much deeper that that. Jennifer caused the 18-30 yr. old guys to start examining their own hearts and sharing deep thoughts with their peers. Only a master teacher can do that.
When Jennifer began speaking, she held a small wooden cross in her hands. She spoke about PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. She asked the young men for some ways to help relieve the pain of traumatic memories. The first two answers were, "Forgive" and "Give it to God." Young people are hungry for answers that they can apply to their lives. The love of God applies to everything.
Another topic that Jennifer touched on was goal setting. One young man said his goal was "To be alive next week." Another talked about going to Harvard. After Jennifer finished speaking and the young men sat down for dinner, one of them asked her a question. "Where can I get my GED?" The YWAP Director will help him get enrolled at ECC and work beyond his GED. Jennifer planted seeds in the hearts of many young men and the fruit was immediate.
Prayer is something we let the young men do before the BWAP dinner. One of the kitchen volunteers, Denise Walden brought her young children to help her. One of her sons volunteered to pray. He stepped to the front of the group and read from a notebook. He had written a simple prayer. Where did he get the notebook and pen? Jennifer came to BWAP with a message and the tools for the young men to start writing their goals. Her actions brought immediate fruit in two different age groups.
Thank you Jennifer, the gifts you brought were evidence of the gift of God within you. The fruit of your life will live on long after you have left the young men at BWAP. I can imagine Jesus saying, "Well done Jennifer, you have been a good and faithful servant.

WE THINK SHE'S THE MOTHER TERESA OF LACKAWANNA!

Blooming all over Lackawanna and the Buffalo, NY Area are the fruits of compassion and generosity planted by Jennifer Nahrebeski. It might be a tad too early to anoint her a saint like Mother Teresa, but she is making a huge impact in the world.
When Jenn sees a need she steps up and fills it. Tomorrow night she will become a 9 Minute Speaker at Basketball With A Purpose. It's time for BWAP LIX folks and the inner-city young men are hungry for some wisdom.
Always ready to demonstrate perseverance and compassion. Jenn is a Counselor by profession, but that doesn't begin to describe the size of her heart. Her profession is an extension of what God has ordained for her life's mission.
Perhaps you would like to be a part of a life-changing ministry. Are you ready to YWAP? Stop by City Reach on Thursday night. We'll be there from 7-9:30 pm at 260 Eggert Road.

The program is for 18-30 yr. old guys, but we welcome visitors (some guys bring girlfriends and babies!) Every week is a different speaker. We play basketball from 7-8:15 pm and then we listen to wisdom for about nine minutes. After the wisdom meal we eat a meal cooked in the kitchen before we go back to basketball. On some other nights we have Bible studies, birthday parties, street corner prayer parties and camping trips for guys and girls (separately.)

MANHOOD, FATHERHOOD & BWAPHOOD  with TOMMY MCCLAM at BWAP LVIII

7/2/2016

BWAP is more than basketball. BWAP is about manhood and fatherhood. When young guys take fatherhood seriously, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! On Thursday night, June 30, 2016, Tommy McClam spoke to the BWAP guys as a father, a friend and a man with a message of life.
Whenever Tommy McClam visits BWAP (which is very often,) something very special happens. Maybe it's because he has a lot of experience as a mentor of inner-city young guys. Maybe it's because he prays and teaches other guys to pray. At BWAP LVIII, Tommy came and prayed, shared some wisdom and the BWAP guys prayed for him.
Almost accepted as one of their peers, Tommy shared several stories about young men who made self destructive decisions. One young man decided to shoot another young man. His bullet travelled through the shoulder of his intended target and killed a baby in the arms of his mother who was coming out of a grocery store. Our decisions have far reaching consequences.
Praying is the most important thing we can do. At the end of his message, Tommy prayed and asked the young men to pray with him. He read from a Bible donated to BWAP by Leroy Wiggins and The Chapel. His Bible verse was John 3:16, " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

"Papa Got a Brand New Bag" is the name of a Fatherhood Program that Tommy will be teaching to anyone who wants to be a "Great Father." The program is being cosponsored by Youth With A Purpose through Erie Community College. Tommy McClam - you are blasting away the darkness that eats away at the hearts of inner-city young people by being the light of Christ. Thank you, Jesus loves you and so do we.
