W hen a young man celebrats his birthday In the inner-city, it's more than a chronological milestone - it's a testimony to perseverance and God's blessing. Many young guys do not believe they will live until they are 21 yrs. old. A lot of their friends have died through gang violence and the chances of avoiding death are sometimes very slim- they're only alive by the skin of their teeth and God's protection.
As guys learn about God, they start to leave the gang life, obtain gainful employment and seek help in learning how to be men and fathers of good character. When a young man fails to act as a responsible father, we take it personally because the young guy does not know any better. Everyone shares the burden of fatherlessness - life is just a matter of will you help teach or will you point and blame?
Patience is needed when helping young men begin a new lifestyle. This young man who celebrated a birthday is working hard to make his life and the lives of his children better. He's trying to help other guys learn about God by bringing them to BWAP. If you would like to hear their stories, you're invited to attend our BWAP Luncheon on Sept 30 from 11:30 am - 1 pm.
at Expressway Assembly 260 Eggert Road.
