Beating back the temptations to engage in destructive behaviors was the focus during halftime at BWAP #100. We were honored to have the Spirit of Truth Urban Ministry Boys Basketball Team in the BWAP House.
When 16-30 yr. old guys are paired with guys 12 and up, something unique happens. We call it "Power-Moment Mentoring." God creates moments in time where mentoring happens naturally.
At halftime, two Pastor's split the Nine Minute Life-Direction. Bob Kuebler and Al Robinson both spoke about the dangers of drugs. The young guys listened well and gave their own advice from a peer viewpoint.
Plenty of things can steal, kill and destroy young lives. At BWAP we use basketball as a relationship building tool that teaches young men a more excellent way of life.
Imagine a city where there are many places for young people to gather for exercise and character building friendships. Youth With A Purpose is looking for more folks to step up as BWAP "Harvest-Hands." Young people do not have to face the temptations of life alone. There are antidotes to gang violence and drug overdoses.
Whom shall we send as mentors for these young people? Who will go?
