| Young people from Buffalo State College spread some love all over the City of Buffalo on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. They took part in the "Bengals Dare To Care Day 2016." When students at Buff St. go to college, their learning isn't always in the classroom. Through experiential community service, the students were learning about "engagement, excellence and social responsibility." Another expert in community service arranged for the students to visit some older folks in the Fruitbelt. Mrs. Elizabeth Triggs from None Like You/We Care Community Block Club is always serving somebody. Plenty of work was done in spite of almost constant rain showers. Trees and hedges were trimmed, bushes and flowers were replanted, sidewalks were swept and lattice was cut. Everything that these students were asked to do, they accomplished with smiles. Ten of the students received copies of "The Potter's Perfect Piece" written by Ken Metzger. Ken is a man with a great big heart who knows a thing or two about persevering through life's challenges. YWAP is grateful to have been a part of the Bengals Dare To Care Day. Thank you for sharing your hearts with neighbors in Buffalo. Thank you Mrs. Triggs for organizing a special day for neighbors in the Fruitbelt. Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody. #DARETOCARE #LIFETICKET #JLYASDW |
