John Mika has been serving the community for more years than most folks have been breathing. He's put together an organization of compassionate and giving people who truly embrace good neighborliness. On Saturday Ma5 4, 2019, they were honored for their willingness to serve.
Theresa Land and Cedric Holloway, President of Johnnie B. Wiley Amateur Athletic Sports took it upon their hearts to return some love upon the heads of those good neighbors. Mrs. Elizabeth Triggs from None LIke You/We Care Community Organization presented several Citations from local government officials in recognition of all the beautiful things they do.
It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood. John Mika and The Teacher's Desk have been giving away teaching supplies to Buffalo Area Teachers for many years. The supplies may not have God's name on them, but the actions of John and the volunteers speak louder than what they give away.
Collaboration is a beautiful act of good neighborliness. The leftover food was taken to Buffalo Teen Challenge. On Saturday May 11, None Like You, Youth With A Purpose and several other community groups are sponsoring a free Mother's Day Brunch with flowers for all the ladies. The event is being held at 562 Genesee St, Buffalo, NY from 11am - 1pm. The Teacher's Desk donated items for that event as well.
