There's a movement in Buffalo to teach men about the blessings, responsibilities and benefits of fatherhood. The Nurturing Fathers Program was facilitated by Antoine Johnson at Bennet High School in the Bennett Parent Center. Antoine is the Fatherhood Coordinator with the Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network Inc. He's done a great job getting this program up and running with enthusiasm.
The generational plague of absentee fathers can be stopped with a proactive approach to teaching fatherhood. It's time that all schools teach young men and women about responsible parenting. Now is the time for schools and Courts to mandate attendance in Fatherhood Programs.
DAY FIVE WORD
I love my master, my wife, and my children;
I will not go out free:”
Exodus 21:5
DEEP THOUGHTS
Love is the only thing that would make anyone stay when they have the choice to leave. Freedom by oneself is lesser freedom than the freedom found in being a servant in God's Love. If the man chose to stay, he would stay forever. It's easy to think of our own culture in a physical world when we think of freedom and bondage. The lesson here is more reflective of forever freedom in Christ.
Some folks run from God because they think doing life His way will restrict their freedom. That couldn't be further from the truth. The way I see it, there's two types of freedom. There's freedom of self that does what we want to do and then there's freedom in Christ which compels us to do what we were created to do. True freedom is believing in the unseen and trusting the will of God. by following the freedom of our own selfishness we'll land in the bondage of sin. If we live a life of ignoring God's freedom, we'll eventually find ourselves in hell with the devil as our master. There is no more freedom of any kind at that point.
Without Christ in our lives, we are unable to escape the bondage of sin. A man should love his wife the way Christ loves the church. The Bible makes it clear that fathers are supposed to teach their children God's best practices for living a life of freedom within God's Love. A father has to have a strong relationship with his children to do that. If you're a guy with kids, it's time to Man-Up and Be A Dad!
DAY FIVE PRAYER
Thank You for another day of opportunity.
A day filled with unseen potential.
A day of new beginnings for families everywhere.
Your Word says that God is Love.
A Father is supposed to be love to his family just as You are to us.
Help mothers and fathers in all families become
Partners in a holy heritage of children.
Even if they are apart,
Give them the ability to unite in the best interests of children.
Help us not to provoke our children to anger.
Cover children with a father's love in Spirit and in Truth.
In Jesus Name.
Amen.
