This is the "home" of a homeless person under a city bridge in Buffalo. Most homeless folks have had their self esteem plummet into a bottle or a needle. We mentor young guys before they live under a bridge and give them hope. - Some folks end up homeless. They never planned life that way. I heard a lady speak the other night about fate. Many of us are one bounce. one curve, one germ, one bad break, one decision away from disaster. We could have been born in a different family. We could have been born into abuse, abandonment or rejection.
Ballers Basketball is about the game of life. One bounce of an encouraging word into the heart of a young person can be the difference between living under a bridge or feeling loved. We are underdogs. Billions of dollars are spent everyday on intervention programs. Ballers Breakfast is about prevention. We teach young guys the 3 H's: Head, Heart and Hands or Think, Feel and Help.
Young guys need to respect themselves, respect the ladies and respect the children whom they father. Poverty, segregation, violence and fatherlessness are learned traits. Teaching the 3 H's will help put a full court press and help to defend orphans and widows.
