"Young children need help understanding deep things," thought the Heart Farmer. He heard the school bus coming while it was still several miles away from their farm. Sound travels more quickly this time of the year as the harvest leaves the ground barren. In a few moments he would meet his little girl as she stepped off the bus and ran full steam into his arms.
Waiting for the bus to arrive, the Heart Farmer smiled thinking about his daughters arrival. "Daddy!" screamed his daughter as he scooped her up and threw her into the air as high as he could. "How's my little Beauty? Tell me about your day darling." said the Heart Farmer. His daughter had just turned 8 years old. She was growing faster than a bean stalk after a good spring rain. "It was a good day Daddy, until the bus ride home. My friend Vashti started crying and said she didn't want to go home. Her mom said she is going to divorce her dad because he went to a XXX Adult Store. Daddy, what's a XXX Adult Store?"
After taking a deep breath, the big man carried his daughter to the front porch swing. He sat with his little girl cradled in his lap and cleared his throat. "The XXX Adult Store is not a very nice place my darling. It can be a place where folks go looking for happiness and find pain instead. Our bodies have been made perfect, beautiful and unique. They are precious and meant to be cared for as something very special. Sadly, there are folks who hurt and abuse other folks for a sick kind of feeling that they think will make them happy. Afterward they feel dirty, but it's like they can't stop. It becomes an addiction like smoking or drinking that destroys everything around them including their families. Your body is special and meant to be private my darling, nobody should touch your private parts. At the XXX Adult Store they don't respect the special parts of our bodies." The Heart Farmer paused and took another deep breath, his daughter was listening intently.
"Parents should not go to XXX Adult Stores because it can lead to the abuse of children," the Heart Farmer continued. Most of the folks who become involved in something called pornography were themselves abused as children. Pornography, my darling, is pictures, books and movies that show the private parts of people. It's very sad that something so special has been made to be cheap and dirty. The more people go there, the worse their sickness gets. Some people can't control themselves and they find other people to act out their bad thoughts. It's like one of our campfires, the more wood we pile on, the hotter the fire gets. It's sounds like poor Vashti's family is getting burned by pornography. I'm sorry darling, I know that hurts."
At Youth With A Purpose we are not afraid to tackle tough issues that affect young people. We are proactive. Abuse is rampant in today's world. Feeding that abuse is the disrespect of our own bodies. There is proof that shows 50% of all people who appear in porn have been abused as children. If you patronize porn then you are participating in abuse. On Thursday evenings we meet with young men 18-30 years old for basketball, life direction and food. We speak truth and form healthy relationships for life.

1. ADOPT A BWAP DINNER - Each Thursday Night at Expressway Assembly we serve a Meal for BWAP. This is an excellent way for your church, youth group or community group to serve some young men from the inner-city. You bring the food and use our kitchen to prepare the food. Our numbers vary between 20 - 40 people each Thursday night.
2. BWAP Adoption - For only $5 per week, you can sponsor a young person from the inner-city between the ages of 18-30 yrs. old. For every $5, a young guy gets over 2 hrs of physical exercise through basketball, a 9MD (9 Minute Life Direction) and a home-style meal. We are a mentoring organization and everything we do is designed to create a more beneficial relationship. We help guys with their education, employment, community service, safe place to live and a relationship with God. Some guys also receive transportation to and from BWAP.
3. 9MD Speaker - If you have some wisdom to pass along to young guys then we would be happy to discuss how you might do that. You would come on a Thursday night and speak for 9 minutes. After your 9 minutes are up, you are welcome to form relationships with the guys as they eat an awesome meal.
