Our lesson was about anger. Each student wrote on a piece of paper what they felt angry about. Then they crumpled the paper up into a ball. The next step was to release the anger. We use a hilarious game to release energy and teach a lesson. The students try and throw the wad of paper into the teachers wide open mouth. If anybody succeeds, they win a dollar. One student (for the first time ever) won a dollar.
Amongst our discussions today, was the story of Les Miserable and how we should treat everybody with respect - we just might change a life. We discussed the bad effects of cigarettes. We talked about psychology and the word haughty. These students were sharp!
YWAP salutes the After School Director Michelle Brown for her dedication and compassion in the way she cares for her students at West Hertel Academy We'd also like to say thank's to the Principal, Ms. Owens for allowing us in your school. You guys are doing a great job at your school!
