JAIL IS A FAMILY WAY OF LIFE -REDUCING RECIDIVISM PART TWO
Why do some families have a greater incarceration rate in their family history? A friend of mine spent almost 20 tears as a Prison Chaplain in North Carolina. Tom Burger told me about one family that had the grandfather, father and grandson locked up in the same prison. That's a sad place to hold a family reunion. The stories go on about generational jail histories for families.WHY?
A lot of young people expect to spend some time in jail. It's what they do. It's just a part of life. The caste system divides a society by social rank. Inner-city young people feel ostracized from the middle and upper classes. They do what they have to do to survive. Poverty in many instances leads to a life of crime. Poor neighborhoods breed gangs and violence. Go to jail, don't snitch, serve time, learn more crime, return to the hood and repeat.
Patterns of negative behavior are contagious among young people in impoverished families and neighborhoods. Youth With A Purpose helps young people build a LifeTicket instead of a life sentence. We are looking to partner with community organizations who help young become become employable, accountable and responsible young men.
WHAT IS THE BWAP LIFETICKET?
Please take a few minutes and soak in the LifeTicket. Ask God how you might be able to help a young person. Can you pray with them, offer them help with a career, education, community service. Young people who are surrounded by a support group are less likely to end up as a recidivism statistic.
Thanks for your time. Go do something nice for somebody.
Jesus loves you and so do we.
