PAINTING & PUTTING LOVE IN ACTION FOR KIDS
At first glance you'd think this was just a pretty normal scene. A group of volunteers painting bedrooms at a safe home for kids. If you knew the life stories of the kids and volunteers, you'd be more likely to say, "Wow God!"
The NAOMI House is a safe home for abused or neglected children who need God's healing touch. The love they receive from the men and women who care for them is truly an example of God's lovingkindness. You can ead more about their story on their website HOW IT ALL BEGAN.
Most of the volunteers came from the Sunshine Rescue Mission. Men end up at the Mission for a variety of reasons. Some have been homeless, some come from jail, some are struggling with addiction issues, some just need a new chance at starting life over. They learn how to let the love of Christ help be their foundation for a fresh start.
Several of the volunteers were members of Church For The Nations Flagstaff. They have a heart for children and use their skilled hearts to be the hands and feet of Christ. All of these folks came together and created a mosaic of God's redemption. We are the faulty clay, but in His hands we become precious cups overflowing with His Love.
Think about this scene for a moment. Formerly abused and neglected kids at a safe home being loved on by formerly homeless men and other folks with huge hearts. Only God could put this scene together.
WE'RE ALL ON A MISSION FROM GOD!
This Saturday (Feb. 13, 2021) we'll return to finish painting. We'll bring some food thanks to Marvin Johnson and his team at Compassion Ministries. We always spend time building personal relationships with the children - that's the most important part of mentoring.
We'd like to thank the kind folks at HomCo Lumber & Hardware for helping us with the paint and supplies. They are a great company with compassionate and caring employees.
The picture above shows some of our volunteers proudly showing off their new NAOMI shirts. YWAP is making a donation to the NAOMI HOUSE to cover the cost of the shirts as a gifts for the volunteers. The Director of NAOMI I Genevieve Dawn Skidmore. She got emotional when we told her that one of our guys would be proud and honored to wear a NAOMI shirt.
