Men of Clay Become The Potter's PERFECT Piece

          It was a special morning in a couple of different ways at the Sunshine Rescue Mission. The Leadership Lesson was about protecting our bodies through Biblical discipline.
          It was a cool lesson and you can read the notes we've posted below. There were about 25 men in attendance and each one received a copy of Ken Metzgers Book - "The Potter's Perfect Piece."             
          Ken is an overcomer and a great example of resilience. He never gives up in spite of numerous adversities that have come his way. Many guys want to quit when life gets hard, Ken's story is an inspiration for everyone.

SATAN WANTS YOUR BODY

Your body is a:

1. Temple
2. Tool
3. Treasure
4. Testing Ground

 
Temple

• What you allow to enter your temple will make up your temple.

“Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.”

Tool

• Your body is a tool to create good works and enlarge God’s territory.

“Sin is a dethroned monarch; so you must no longer give it an opportunity to rule over your life, controlling how you live and compelling you to obey its desires and cravings. So then, refuse to answer its call to surrender your body as a tool for wickedness. Instead, passionately answer God’s call to keep yielding your body to him as one who has now experienced resurrection life! You live now for his pleasure, ready to be used for his noble purpose. Remember this: sin will not conquer you, for God already has! You are not governed by law but governed by the reign of the grace of God.”

Treasure

• The grace and love of Christ is a treasure given to you by the father to invest in others so they may have treasure as well.

“We have this treasure from God. But we are only like clay jars that hold the treasure. This shows that this great power is from God, not from us. We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up.”

Testing Ground

• God will test your devotion before he gives you a promotion. Satan likes to test your patience.

“Blessed (happy, to be envied) is the man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation, for when he has stood the test and been approved, he will receive [the victor's] crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.”
