You can pray for many things. At YWAP we pray proactively. We are an inner-city ministry for young people. Experience has taught us a better way to pray. We ask God to put us into the heat of the battle before young people begin acting out their bitterness.
When you pray, ask God to give you the keys to a young person's heart. Unlock the door that's been closed by the void of love inside their heart. Ask God to put you into a place of influence. Ask God to give you a relationship with a young person.
Accepting young people for who they are is only a beginning. Believing in what they can become takes action and prayer. Can you look into the eyes of everyone you meet and see something good? Not everyone is going to do good things with their lives - this does not mean that you give up. God desires that none should perish and so should you. As long as there is breath and a heart beat, a young person has a chance to understand love.
Prayer is faith and hope blended into a heart condition of belief. Pray for the "pre-murderers." Pray for the "pre-abusers." Pray for the "pre-sinners" - all of us are in this condition. We ask God to keep us from temptation.

Thanks God for the blessings we already have.
You've been extravagant in giving us the potential for enlarging love in the world.
Give us today God, the young men before they commit their first murder.
Give us today God, the young men before they abuse young women.
Give us today God, the wisdom to know where we should focus our efforts in serving those who are closest to the evil that steals, kills and destroys.
Give us today God, the eyes to see impending peril and the ears to hear the cries of the forsaken.
Give us today God, the hands to serve the unloved and the feet to help carry the burdens of bitterness borne by the children of abuse.
Give us today God, more of You in our hearts that we might become the heartbeat of love in place of the nails of hate.
Help us become Calvary and the Cross on the way to a new life with young people who don't know the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Today God.
