Water Baptism is a way of dying with Christ to ourselves and being raised with Him into new life.
As an act of obedience, Baptism is a response to the command of Jesus found in Matthew 28:18-20.
Pastor Mike Kistner of Starfish Ministries walked into the water with a young lady smiling from ear to ear. She was there to experience a Water Baptism as part of her public declaration to follow Christ.
Michael Kistner is a Pastor and 30+ year veteran of Bible study. Together with his wife, Lisa, they host a Bible meeting patterned after the first century church. Faith is more than religion. It's about a personal relationship with God through His son, Jesus Christ. All around us we see broken people in need of healing and comfort. Learning together, we make faith come alive.
The YWAP Directors were invited to share what God has been doing through young people and their families at YWAP. Starfish Ministries of Western New York has been a very generous supporter of YWAP Programs. We're grateful to them to be able to tell more people that "Jesus loves you and so do we.".
The Starfish folks sat in beach chairs on the shores of Lake Erie in Angola, NY, about 45 minutes outside of Buffalo. The water was choppy and the wind was strong, but the faith of a bunch of people on a beach for a Baptism was stronger.
If you're wondering about the Starfish on Lake Erie, well that can happen in many ways. As you read the following story, think about making a difference in one person's life.
One day, a man was walking along a beach that was littered with thousands of starfish that had been washed ashore by the high tide. As he walked he came upon a young boy who was eagerly throwing the starfish back into the ocean, one by one.
Puzzled, the man looked at the boy and asked what he was doing. Without looking up from his task, the boy simply replied, “I’m saving these starfish, Sir”.
The man chuckled aloud, “Son, there are thousands of starfish and only one of you. What difference can you make?”
The boy picked up a starfish, gently tossed it into the water and turning to the man, said, “I made a difference to that one!”
Matthew 28:18-20
""Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age'"
