CIRCUMCISION and RACISM
Jesus was circumcised when He was eight days old. It was the first wound of the flesh that He would suffer. God doesn't give commands to cut guys private parts just to see us squirm. Scientists found a reason why circumcision has been given on the eighth day and it's called Vitamin K which helps prevent hemorrhaging. It was produced heavilly on the eigth day. There's a lot more scientific evidence, but that's enough for now. More importantly, God was cutting away our flesh as a metaphor that would help us understand the need to put His Spirit before our flesh.
So what about racism? The dividing of flesh was meant to keep us one in Spirit. By taking our eyes off of God, we begin a struggle for power in the world. Groups of people gather in their own unity instead of God's unity. It's a "fruitful-cut" or a pruning back to help us grow spiritually. Circumcision is a heart condition that separates one from the wotld and becomes one with God. Romans 2:29 "circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God."
If you fix your eyes on Jesus, there is no way that you will be able to cast eyes of disdain on somebody of another color. Healing grows after the cutting stops.
DAY EIGHT WORD
Discipline in a Long-Distance Race
Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
Luke 2:21 New King James Version
Circumcision of Jesus
And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.
DAY EIGHT PRAYER
DAY EIGHT DEEP THOUGHTS
- What do you need to prune from your heart?
- Can you look a person of another color in the eye and love them?
- Have you ever apologized for what your race has done to another race?
- Do you have a covenant with God to send racism straight to hell?
