DO YOU BELIEVE GOD KNOWS BEST?
I don't recall his exact words as I've done my best to forget them, but I know it was something about my wife having sin that may have caused her condition. He also mentioned not having enough faith. I have to admit I wanted to throw him off the roof. Our conversation was short from that point on. I took a deep breath and said, "This has happened so the glory of God can be revealed!" See John 9:3
Jesus had a lot to say about faith. “I assure you: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done." Matthew 21:21 HCSB
Some folks go overboard with faith. A man recently told me that some folks had prayed over him to be healed from an incurable disease. When it didn't happen, he said the people who prayed didn't have enough faith. He was going to look for someone else to pray for him. When healing doesn't happen, it may or may not be a faith issue.
When Jesus talked about having faith that moves mountains, He meant that God moves things beyond the natural. Miracles are like moved mountains; God moves things that we couldn't move on our own. Faith is a gift from God. "I mean that you have been saved by grace because you believe. You did not save yourselves. It was a gift from God. You cannot brag that you are saved by the work you have done." Ephesians 2:8-9 ICB
What happens when you have the faith to pray to be healed and you don't get healed? What about praying for problems, struggles or obstacles to happiness? If you have faith, shouldn't God answer your prayers? Personally, I thank God He hasn't answered all my prayers. My life would be vastly different right now. Having faith not to be healed takes a lot of humble courage. It means you are saying, "Not my will, but Your will be done." Matthew 26:39, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42, John 6:38
Being submissive to God's will is hard in the face of adversity. He knows better what we need than we do. God's sovereignty means that He is the Creator and Authority of all things and He controls all things. His sovereign will is the best case scenario in all situations. Some folks sulk when they don't get what they pray for. Having the faith to accept whatever happens when praying in faith is a beautiful way of applying Romans 8:28 to your life.
"We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. They are the people God called, because that was his plan."
Having the faith not to be healed means the willingness to accept God's perfect will in your prayers. Moving a mountain is a soil moving process. Our prayers move one grain of sand, dirt, clay or rock at a time. Each one removed is another surrender to His will, one humble step at a time. You are a mountain mover, one humble move at a time.
DAY 10 WORD
Yes, God’s riches are very great! God’s wisdom and knowledge have no end! No one can explain the things God decides. No one can understand God’s ways. As the Scripture says,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Who has been able to give the Lord advice?” Isaiah 40:13
“No one has ever given God anything
that he must pay back.” Job 41:11
Yes, God made all things.
And everything continues through God and for God.
To God be the glory forever!
Amen.
Romans 11:33-36 ICB
DAY 10 PRAYER
Thank You God for knowing and giving us what's best for our lives. You use struggles to make us stronger in our love for You and others. Thank You for the gift of faith. Thank You for giving us a free will. Help us to know Your perfect will in greater ways. Amen.
DAY 10 DEEP THOUGHTS
- How many times have you not gotten what you prayed for and were glad about it?
- Has God ever given you more than you prayed for?
- Is healing in heaven better than continued suffering on earth?
- Sin is a prayer-stopper, make no bones about it. It's always best to invite God into our hearts and say "Create in me a clean heart O God."
- "Without faith no one can please God. Anyone who comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who truly want to find him." Hebrews 11:6 ICB
