THE SPIRIT IS FREELY GIVEN TO ALL PEOPLE
The dreams or visions of other people can be hard to envision in our own minds. That's pretty normal as they're not meant for us anyway. God has a unique relationship with every person He foreknew before He place them in the womb. Last night while praying to know what I would write about today, the word or number nine appeared in my mind followed by the thought of "John 9."
Jesus meets a blind man (could have been me or you!) His buddies the disciples ask Him, "Who sinned, this man or his parents?" That might seem like a goofy question to us, but some teachers during that time believed in prenatal sin. Jesus reply is an application we can use everyday, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but it was so that the works of God might be displayed and illustrated in him. We must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world [giving guidance through My word and works].” John 9:3-5 AMP
How many times have we seen a homeless person begging on the side of the road and wondered why he's in such a bad state? Maybe he sinned! Instead of wondering about the cause of his predicament, we'd be better off showing mercy and love. Maybe the situations, problems and struggles we come upon in life were by design so that the glory of God can be revealed. We judge people all day long and miss opportunities for the revelation of His glory. I know I need to judge less and act more.
Homeless folks, diseased folks, divorced folks, lonely folks, addicted folks - they all have dreams and visions too. What if we looked at all the people we meet as as a potential dreamer or visionary?
My wife and I left Buffalo, NY and moved to Flagstaff, AZ in the ninth moth of 2019. We know He moved us here as He provided all we need to get here and live here. Pay attention to dreams and visions, God may be giving you a glimpse of how He will reveal His glory through you. I believe His glory is only revealed through us when we humble ourselves enough to act with grace, mercy and love.
DAY NINE WORD
After this, I will give my Spirit freely to all kinds of people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your old men will dream dreams.
Your young men will see visions.
Joel 2:28 ICB
For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak,
and not lie:
though it tarry, wait for it;
because it will surely come,
it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:3 KJV
For all [these] things are [taking place] for your sake, so that the more grace (divine favor and spiritual blessing) extends to more and more people and multiplies through the many, the more thanksgiving may increase [and redound] to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4:15 AMPC
DAY NINE PRAYER
Thank you God for my frailties and weaknesses. They give me a glimpse of myself in the face of other people. None of us are sin-free. None of us are humble enough to always reveal your gory through our thoughts and actions. Forgive us for wrongly judging people when You've placed them in our way as opportunities to reveal Your Glory. Amen.
DAY NINE DEEP THOUGHTS
- Our heads are asking questions when our hearts ought to be dispensing compassion.
- We search for reasons to explain poverty instead of serving with mercy and grace.
- Without suffering there would be no need for mercy.
- Ask not why they're suffering, ask what you can do to alleviate their suffering.
